Amazon Elastic Cloud Compute (EC2) is a web service that provides resizable compute capacity in the cloud. EC2 presents a true virtual computing environment, allowing you to utilise web service interfaces to launch a variety of instances, with the capability of fully customising operating systems, application environments, network access permissions etc.

A flexible and cost-efficient solution, cloud computing is an effective way for large and dispersed organisations to store and access data and applications remotely, allowing them to be accessed globally from a number of different geographical locations. The development of powerful cloud compute services has the potential to fundamentally change the way businesses work, creating a world that is truly without borders.

The challenge set by the client was to deliver a specific Digital Assets Management system that could be accessed by a select number of users within multiple global locations. Ixxus created an appropriate Alfresco-based publishing solution and deployed it into the cloud, giving the system global accessibility.
