Partnerships for Schools turn to Open Source Enterprise Content Management Solution For Low Cost and Ease of Use

LONDON – January 29, 2008 – Ixxus today announced that Partnerships for Schools, a leading U.K. Non-Departmental Government Body, has selected Ixxus and Alfresco document management, collaboration and web content management products for the company’s new portal.

PfS is a Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB), wholly owned by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) but jointly funded by DCSF and Partnerships UK. The organization works with local authorities and the private sector to rebuild or renew every one of England′s 3,500 state secondary schools during the 15-year lifetime of this unprecedented program of investment. The organization employs around 100 people to work with both local authorities and their private sector partners to deliver the program.

PfS have selected the Alfresco solution from Ixxus to facilitate information interchange between all parties, and internal access enabling the organization to benefit from the sharing of expertise, best practice and lessons learned, all of which are essential to the successful delivery of the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) program.

Karl Hoods, Head of Information Systems at PfS said: “Access to information and sharing best practice and lessons learned is integral to the success of the BSF program, both within Partnerships for Schools and externally amongst the BSF community. PfS carried out an internal information audit and stakeholder consultation exercise which helped shape the way in which information is managed and delivered both internally and externally.

“We are confident that Alfresco provides a value for money solution to our information management needs and will support us in the delivery of our goals and targets throughout the lifetime of the program. The Alfresco open source platform provides us with a single end to end solution which not only delivers web services but is enabling us to comply with statutory obligations and Central Government standards.”
